Do you like change? I used to hate it. It would kinda freak me out to be honest. I enjoyed my perfect routines and if someone messed it up, there went my entire week.
I mean how are you supposed to handle the unexpected or the unknowns? I’m the type of person that’s always loved being in control of everything! Though I still love being in control, I do have to say that I have gotten a lot better with change.
In fact, I actually enjoy a little change now and then. I still might get those butterflies in my stomach from time to time, but I like the results enough to push through. I think that’s the very thing. When I finally started to embrace change and discomfort, I finally started to experience the beautiful things on the other side of change.
Like pushing through a workout day in and day out, and benefiting by being stronger. Or pushing through the discomfort of learning how to buy a house for the first time, and now feeling more and more like a pro at it. What about marriage, I was tempted to be fearful of the “what if’s.” But I have pushed through and have learned more than I ever would have if I didn’t face the changes.
Why Embrace Change?
You see, friend, I think change is really good for us. In fact, if you aren’t getting uncomfortable at least 5 times a week, I would challenge you that you’re not living to the fullest. It’s so easy to fall in love with comfort, especially when that’s all we know. But embrace change and the discomfort that comes with it, that’s when you truly start to build your character and heart.
Remember the living intentionally message? To be intentional with all we do. That’s just it! This is how I have learned to love change and to embrace it. I have been able to train myself (of course along with Jesus) to be intentional with my thoughts and how I view change!
The heart of the matter is that I have had to get real honest with myself. Do I truly trust God and trust that HE IS enough? Always.
Okay friend, so here is your challenge because what is all this nonsense if we don’t put it into action? I want you to join me in trying to seek out change or uncomfortable situations! How can you push yourself just a little bit further? To push so that you can train yourself to lean on Jesus’ goodness and his love rather than anything else.
Embracing change will sharpen you and help you to become the person you desire to be. You got this! Put yourself out there. After pushing myself to embrace a lot of change and discomfort over the past three years, I have no regrets. In fact, I can’t imagine where I would still be if I never would have taken the leap of faith. You too can embrace change, my friend!
